About Me
Hello! My name is Kate Legere. I have 15+ years of experience in education, both inside the classroom and as a Learning Support Coordinator. Having worked in a wide variety of educational settings, including elite private international schools and schools focusing on social, emotional, and academic skill-building, I bring a well-rounded approach to meeting each client where they are while developing a unique plan for growth.
Areas of Focus
Self-Awareness
The first step in developing executive function skills is building self-awareness relating to one's strengths and weaknesses in managing time, planning, and organizing tasks. Through this reflection, we will see which skills need further development. Establishing this self-awareness early on will help clients identify areas they need to work on and where they may need to seek help from others.
Goal Setting
Goal setting is a critical aspect of developing executive function skills. We will work together to set short-term and long-term goals that are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART). These goals will then be broken down into smaller tasks and prioritized based on their importance.
Developing a Consistent
Routine
Developing a routine is crucial in developing executive function skills. A routine helps individuals manage time effectively and reduces decision fatigue. With input from parents (as well as coaches and teachers, if possible), we will create a routine that includes time for sleep, physical activity, meals, work, socializing, and "down time".
Hands-on Exercises
We will work on a variety of age-appropriate exercises to help strengthen and develop working memory, inhibition development, and mental flexibility as these are all crucial elements of well-developed executive function skills.
Organization
Developing strong organizational systems that work for each client is a key part of our time together. We will work on creating visual methods to track assignments, responsibilities, and obligations.
